Hornady Bullets have worked well in the guns that I use for hunting (7mm08 and 308). I test loaded an empty case for my new Ruger made Marlin 44 magnum using the 265 grain FTX. It fit in the chamber ok, but did not cycle using the lever action. I shortened the case as recommended in the Hornady reloading manual suggested for the 225 grain FTX, however it still did not cycle. The tip would get hung up below the chamber opening. I finally ground off the plastic tip so it was level with the copper jacket, loaded it in a regular length 44 mag case, and it cycles perfectly. The bullet tip gets slightly squeezed when seating the bullet with a conical shaped seater head. Thus keeping the remaining plastic tip in place. I looks just like a Critical Defense bullet. I then loaded these using the maximum load suggested in the Hornady Manual for this weight bullet, and they group nicely at the 100 yard range. Looking forward to using this bullet and gun in Pennsylvania's woods this hunting season.
