.475 Linebaugh Ammunition for Medium to Dangerous Game
Hunting ammunition for medium game and larger animals needs to have superior penetration ballistic properties to overcome dense muscle and possibly bone in order to strike vital organs. Underwood Xtreme Penetrator ammunition uses Lehigh Defense's masterfully designed solid copper (lead free) projectiles of the same namesake. These uniquely shaped bullets increases hydraulic velocity which allows a larger permanent wound channel while maintaining reliable magazine feeding for follow up shots. On your next hunt or hike, keep Underwood Xtreme Penetrator ammunition handy.

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 475 Linebaugh was developed by John Linebaugh and introduced by Ross Seyfried in Guns & Ammo in 1988. Though now surpassed by S&W's 460 and 500 S&W Magnums, for some years the 475 Linebaugh was a contender as the most powerful revolver cartridge. It is based on the 45-70 case shortened to 1.5 inches, using a .475-inch bullet. Buffalo Bore offers factory ammunition, with bullet weights from 350 to 440 grains. Velocity with a 350-grain bullet is about 1500 feet per second, developing 1745 foot-pounds of energy. Although it is not the most powerful, the 475 LInebaugh is a very powerful revolver cartridge, well-suited to hunting extremely large game at close range. —
